David Anderson presided
over the 114th
Mid Argyll Agricultural Show on Saturday
the 13th August 2011 at Kilmory,
Lochgilphead
with all the usual competitions plus a few new ones.
Though the
ground was very wet and
muddy, because of torrential rain on days preceding the show, on
Saturday, the sunshine drew a large crowd of spectators
who enjoyed watching
the judging of competitions and varied program of events.
The system of
using
the School car park and
shuttle buses taking people from the square in Lochgilphead
up
into the show ground, via the school car park proved popular.
Unfortunately the
horse and pony section had to be cancelled due to the effect of the
rain on the field.

The
Mid-Argyll Agricultural Show is a
major event
held annually
on the second Saturday in August. Hundreds of exhibitors enter
competitions in Baking, Produce, Crafts, Flowers and
Vegetables as
well
as the Dog and Livestock classes.
A Shinty Tournament is also an attraction for the crowd, as are the Quad Bikes.
The many trade Stands give an opportunity to browse and buy everything from crafts, clothing, toys and produce to agricultural machinery and equipment. Childrens competitions plus roundabouts and bouncy castles ensure that the whole family enjoy a great day out.
Membership of the show is open to all and members may compete in any class.
